I think what Martin Luther was really up to, has been covered up. I think he planned a religious revolution, an End Times (when Jews would all convert to his version of Christianity) and he was the harbinger of the Second Coming, if not Jesus himself. His backers however had other ideas, and so did the peasants he got in a tizzy (Peasant's Revolt).

"I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.' - Psalm 82.6 (NIV)

So what is Law/Torah? Just the first five books (the Torah)? What about the Prophets and the Writings? Pharisees limit law to the Torah, they don't take it from the Prophets or the Writings (Psalms are in the Writings). Who is an Israelite/Judahite? Are the Sadducees right? Are the Pharisees right?

Pharisees (Rabbinic Jews) are antinomian, ironically. Man trumps G-d. Karaite Jews are anti-Rabbinic ... they reject the Oral Torah (of the Pharisees). So in practice, the Karaite Jews are more conservative than the Rabbinic Jews. And the Samaritans are more conservative than the Karaites. The Samaritans are the most biblical of all Jews, and aren't counted as Jews. Something wrong with this picture?

I try to be right at least once a year. I agree that the split was more like splitting hairs. It almost looks like Martin Luther made a political play for power. While I have you on the line old... more

Thanks for this. The Torah is the Jewish law. It seems that there is no actual Jewish document that shows the Jewish law as stated when Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You ... more

esus in John 10:24 was quoting the psalms in Greek, the Septuagint version (in this case, to the Hellenistic rabbis, not the Palestinian rabbis). And Jesus as son of G-d, is The Rabbi, not them, not... more

You might be right, and yes, I like to hear of people that interpret things in the way they want or see things their way. That is the Gnostic Christian way to some extent. We tend not to reject... more
