To be of service ...
Wed Aug 16, 2017 06:59

Yes ... the only point of being alive is to be of service, and to be of service to more than self. But religion is twisted to mean ... anti-self. Asceticism. Self denial is good in proportion, but not self hate. You can't be of good service, if you spend all your focus on self-hate. My daughter is slowly learning this, as she works against her handicaps.

But I see G-d as amoral, neither for nor against life, neither for nor against humanity, neither for nor against me. But then I am stiff necked. I demand that G-d show me ... and G-d has repeatedly ... how every blessing is also a curse.

Some people become atheists ... having been theists, and faced disappointment that G-d isn't like Santa Claus. I still believe in G-d. But I know G-d, and I don't like what I know, because of the disappointment. I can't be reconciled with how things are. I must remain a seeker. I won't abandon G-d, I have to show patience. Forty years in the desert before being sent back to Pharaoh. Then forty more years in the desert getting the generation born in Egypt, except two, to die off. Then I won't be allowed to more than see the Promised Land, I can't go in. Yes, lots of patience, 120 years total.
