In New York in 1999, with the first incident of WNV, and 10 million exposed to the WNV mosquito, a total of 7 people died. We may not even be into the middle of Dallas epidemic, and 10 have already died.

Last week I spoke about the marijuana related killing of unarmed James Harper by a Dallas Police officer, and Ron Paul, a candidate for U. S. President who wants to legalize drugs. I asked the question should we be shooting unarmed people over marijuana...or any illegal drug? I presented the overwhelming evidence that the "War on Drugs" is virtually a complete failure, just like Prohibition was, and it presents a tremendous economic and social burden on us. The total combined budget of the City and County of Dallas for the police and the jail is near $1 billion a year representing 60% of the total combined operating budgets. Could we be doing something better with half of this $1 billion a year for city and county services? About half of the 1 million drug related arrests In our Nation each year are for marijuana. Today, about 1% of our Nation's population, or 3 million people are in prison and jail at an incarceration cost of near $100 billion annually. About 70% are in prison for drug related crimes, mostly non-violent property theft crimes. The State of Texas imprisons about 175,000 annually at a cost of about $6 billion. A racial breakdown of prison inmates shows a very strong racial bias with 40 percent of prison inmates being Black, and 25 percent being Hispanic, with their races making up only 13% and 15% of the total U. S. population, respectively. A combined 20,000 gang related deaths are occurring each year in both the U.S. and Mexico over illegal drugs.
Another marijuana-related incident is occurring in Dallas which is shedding even more light on the hypocrisy of our marijuana laws and the benefits of marijuana. West Nile Virus is now considered at an epidemic level in Dallas, with hundreds infected and 9 deaths. Dallas County plans on aerial spraying of a pyrethroid pesticide, claimed to be of low toxicity. It may be, but who today trusts our governments? Many Dallas residents don't agree with the aerial spraying of pesticides, and I'm with them. Is there a better way than chemically spraying? The best defense against any disease is our individual immune systems with the aid of natural medicines/herbs. There are many natural medicines far superior in cost and effectiveness to pharmaceutical drugs. How many people know that Hemp oil (Hemp is another name for marijuana) is one of the best protectors against West Nile Virus, both externally and internally (and there are a few others.). Experts will tell us that if we rub hemp oil on the mosquito bite area, and internally take a hemp oil capsule, no one will come down with West Nile Virus. Hemp oil also has many other beneficial uses.
Last, but not least, God has given us and endorses hemp/marijuana, and no man has a legal right to keep it from us. In Genesis 1:9 He says, "Behold I give thee every herb bearing seed", and in 1Timothy 3, "They will stop the use of foods which God has created...For every creation of God is good." Psalm 104, 14 - 15, says, "He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man." How was marijuana used in biblical times? Clothing, paper, cord, sails, fishnet, oil, sealant, incense, food, relaxation, and medicine. All of a sudden, after thousands of years of beneficial use, marijuana/HEMP is criminalized, and the predatory pharmaceutical industry takes over with the big assistance of U.S. Governments.
