What's Going On

A shocking leaked document reveals that Alabama police officers planted drugs and weapons on black men.

The report from the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Alabama Justice Project reveals that police officers in Dothan, Alabama, planted drugs and weapons on black men for years, resulting in false charges.

According to The Henry County Report, the accused officers were all a part of the narcotics team.

Police officers have come forward, citing the public’s right to know, alleging Dothan Police Department’s corruption.

The officers who allegedly planted the drugs were also part of a secret racist group, the Report alleges: “All of the officers reportedly were members of a Neoconfederate organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center labels “racial extremists.” The group has advocated for blacks to return to Africa, published that the civil rights movement is really a Jewish conspiracy, and that blacks have lower IQ’s. Both Parrish and Hughes held leadership positions in the group and are pictured above holding a confederate battle flag at one of the club’s secret meetings.”

The officers targeted black men for over a decade and many of these black men are still in prison. Many of the involved officers were subsequently promoted and now hold positions of authority within the department.

Those former officers who’ve come forward have agreed to testify if United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch appoints a special prosecutor from outside the state of Alabama. The officers who shared the documents did so under the cover of anonymity, but have said that they are willing to testify before Congress as well.

The original documents were provided to an N.G.O. in Canada and are being shared directly with attorneys in the U.S. Dept. of Justice Civil Rights Division.

Black Ex-Cop Who Found Racist Letter Charged With Planting It
What's Going On

Your Black World reported on Wednesday the case of a black Kean University Higgins
alum charged with making threats against black students on the school’s campus. Now a former Connecticut police officer is charged with planting a racist letter as a way of portraying his police department as racist.

Clive Higgins, an ex-Bridgeport Police Lieutenant, was arrested Wednesday in Connecticut and charged with second degree falsely reporting of an incident, ctpost.com reports.

The letter, found in February by Higgins, was racially threatening and began and ended with “White Power.” The letter also made disparaging remarks about Higgins and said he didn’t belong in the police department.

A state police investigator said in a report that Higgins had admitted to typing the letter during an interview.

“It’s disappointing,” said head of the police union, Sgt. Charles Paris. “But hopefully this will clarify some questions about our membership. We have hard-working men and women in the department and our sole purpose is to protect the residents of the city of Bridgeport.”

Higgins was cleared by a federal court in the 2011 beating of prone suspect. Two other officers pleaded guilty.

He resigned in July after having been with the department for 13 years.

The news of Higgins’ arrest comes in the same week that Kayla-Simone McKelvey, 24, a black alum of Kean University, allegedly made a series of online threats against black university students on campus, then shared them at an anti-racism rally.

Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park alleges that McKelvey, an activist, participated in a Nov. 17 anti-racism rally on campus, then halfway through the rally, went to the school’s library to send racially threatening tweets against black Kean Univ. students.

“We are saddened to learn that the person allegedly responsible was an active participant in the rally that took place on campus on Tuesday, November 17 and is a former student of Kean,” read a statement from Kean University.

Online threats made against black students at a New Jersey university wereracist threats
actually made by a black alum, say investigators.

According to NJ.com, Kayla-Simone McKelvey, 24, a black alum of Kean University and recent graduate, allegedly made a series of online threats against black university students on campus, then hyped those threats at a student rally.

Current Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park said an investigation found that McKelvey, an activist, participated in a Nov. 17 anti-racism rally on campus, but took a break halfway through the rally to send racist and threatening messages from the school’s library.

The Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Prosecutions Unit and Kean University police found that McKelvey created the Twitter account @keanuagainstblk and began posting threats against black students.

McKelvey allegedly posted a bomb threat, and at 10pm, posted “kean university twitter against blacks is for everyone who hates blacks people” and “i will kill every black male and female at kean university”.

McKelvey is not only accused of posting the threats, but also returning to the peaceful racial awareness rally to publicize them. She even posted a screenshot of the threats to her own Twitter account.

According to LinkedIn, McKelvey is a recent graduate of Kean and works as a personal trainer.

Kean released the following statement:

“We are saddened to learn that the person allegedly responsible was an active participant in the rally that took place on campus on Tuesday, November 17 and is a former student of Kean. As a diverse academic community, we wholeheartedly respect and support activism, however, no cause or issue gives anyone the right to threaten the safety of others. We hope this information will begin to bring a sense of relief and security to the campus community.”
