Certainly statistically probable given over 15 million persons donned the uniform between 41 and 45. Nonetheless, still humbling to consider. They may have been small in stature but obviously large in heart when you consider this young man getting in at 15 years old and landing on Tarawa in the first wave after just turning 16 (if I have it right) . Failure of my imagination too not taking economic considerations into account for that time. From your info, it looks like it may have been more common than I could have imagined.
