PVT Joseph Carmine Carbone was submitted as a "Possible Match" to Punchbowl Cemetery Unknown X-206 in an official Investigative Report submitted by Chief Rick Stone while a member of the Department of Defense on August 11, 2011. Six years later, the Department of Defense confirmed that Unknown X-206 was recovered from the Punchbowl and identified as PVT Carbone. Unknown X-206's's identity has now been honorably restored. PVT Carbone has returned home to his family for burial in New York.
