2nd LT Harvel Lee Moore
Thu May 17, 2018 10:15

“His Lord said to him, Well done, you good and faithful servant…” Matthew 25:21.
2nd LT Harvel Lee Moore was reported as Killed in Action on 22 November 1943 on Tarawa. In 2011/2012, Chief Rick Stone, while a member of the Department of Defense (DoD), investigated all of the unresolved Tarawa casualties and compared LT Moore with those buried as "Unknowns" in the Punchbowl Cemetery in Honolulu in 1947. The Chief Rick Stone and Family Charitable Foundation researchers, using advanced investigative techniques and technologies not available at DoD, continued to investigate LT Moore’s case. Upon request, the Foundation provided LT Moore’s family with a comprehensive report which determined that LT Moore was a possible match to field recoveries on Tarawa in recent years. On 22 February 2018, LT Moore was officially confirmed as a field recovery from Tarawa. Welcome home Marine! We share the joy of your family in your return for burial in Louisiana! God Bless you and thanks to ALL who never forgot you and your service to our country!
