Hey try this Tom. Zoom in on 80 and you will see a sunken LVT-2 on the reef just west of the ship. Zoom in tight on 87 and at the far right of the Green Beach seawall you will see a dark image of a steel pyramid pillbox with two men standing outside in the open sand watching the plane as well as another man a little farther north. At the top of 36 nearly in the center is the grounded Niminoa with her foremast and all. Thanks again. I may go blind having this much fun dude!

Absolutely, George. The detail is absolutely amazing. If you put all the D-Day photos in sequence, it is quite a tour. I was really hoping that 80 and 81 would expose Red 1 further as the plane... more

Looks like one of the tracks is on fire.

From what I can make out and following the sequence of the photos, the two LVT-1's facing each other are off of Red-1. Notice all the tracks imprinted in the coral. They are LVTs and most likely M4... more

Hey Al ! Definitely off Red1 but further out. I think Jon's right about one burning/smoking. I believe it is leaking oil too. If you look at #011 and enlarge it, you can see the same two tracs on the ... more

Hi Tom, I do see the figures in that image. Jon is right, it is smoldering. George also has a keen eye on the sunken LVT-2 off Red-2. And to confirm, I AM HAVING FUN CHECKING OUT THESE PHOTOS!! All... more

Just found the location of photo #81, look at photo #28 upper left corner. The swirl in the sand is the water. Al

Yep. #29 shows both of the LVT-1s. I think the cameraman couldn't help but take that picture in #81. Unique amongst the photos here.

So many derelict LVTs shown. Nine in the water and another eight or nine on the beach!

The still picture belies how terrible it must have been. I think I recall that thirty something could not be accounted for (sunk)? The more you find, the more you understand just how really bad it... more

Yes... I see all of it, George. Amazing to see those guys looking up on Green Beach. There is something else submerged just north of the LVT-2? One of the things I caught before actually going blind... more

Yes you are correct on #75. The 3 LVTs can be seen in a couple of the pics. 27 and 39 inside of a pre-invasion heavy bomb crater that destroyed the base of the Burns-Phillip Wharf. Hidden in the pawl ... more
