Requesting help for book on Tarawa, 1/2 Co. B
Sat Aug 17, 2019 17:04

I was delighted to find this resource (I was searching for more information on the Kota Agoeng and the Marines who arrived at San Francisco on October 8.)

I'm writing about one particular Marine, Billy Spratt White, who at all relevant times was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines. He was part of the first landing in the Solomons, at liberty in New Zealand, and was awarded the Purple Heart on Tarawa. He then was at Camp Tarawa, Hawaii, and put on light duty after the West Loch disaster. He was sent back and taught jungle warfare at Parris Island.

Are there good memoirs that might shed light on Bill's time at war? Is anyone left who would talk to me? Please feel free to email directly -

Try this one - then scroll down to "CHAPLAIN WILLARD'S WARTIME JOURNAL" near the bottom left.

No it does not work because your contact info is highlighted at the top of each list no matter what letter is selected. I still get your E-Mail header in my mail program.

Okay Jim. So only you have access to the list. Gotcha. I was just curious. I read books that mention names and wonder how they were killed as I try to put together the action. Thanks anyway.
