Donna...I just happened across this thread and wanted to write immediately. I have written two books about the battle for Tarawa...I created a fictitious platoon and I use the men in the platoon to show what the battle of Tarawa was like. My first book is called Annihilation Beach...and it deals with the actions that took place on the first day of the battle and the events that led up to the battle itself. The second book deals with the second day of fighting and it is called The Slaughter Pen. I am currently writing Book 3...and your father is in it!! I am hoping to be done writing it by this Christmas...maybe before that if I put my nose to the grindstone on it!! The reason your dad is in it is because I write a lot about the tank action on Tarawa...especially his platoon!! The first two books are on Amazon.com. I have had some pretty good feedback on them so I am quite proud of my effort!!! If you read them, please let me know what you think!!!! Semper Fi, Jim D

Ok, its starting to make sense to me. But I'm still not sure what division my father was in. I guess I'll have to do some research. I think it's probably written in "Tanks in Hell". But thank you for ... more
