My daughter's ammonia levels were in the 400's when she was first diagnosed. Her doc feels she suffered no brain damage. Before I got the call from the pediatrician saying I had to bring her to CHB, she did have some sypmtoms. On the day I brought her home from the hospital she was vomiting alot so the pediatrician changed her formula, it helped a little, then she was very cranky and slept alot. Even though she suffered no brain damage she does have learning disabilities. She is in the first grade now and has an IEP and gets speech therapy everyday for 1/2 hr. She also has trouble reading. She didn't walk or talk til she was 2 1/2 years old. Right now the main issues of concern is her behavior and her hair falling out. I wish you so much luck as this is hard to deal with.
