It's really slippery around here too!

How did you manage the freezing rain? I hate it! There is no way to get out of the house, mostly it lasts for 1 day here.
So far, neither of us have fallen, but my poor female Angel poodle thought she was going for a ride in the car, jumped out of the house and down 2 steps then hit a little patch of ice. She hurt her one leg, I thought I would have to carry her back inside (30 kg.) but she did try to hobble the best she could. I thought it was broken but think a bad strain. I did salt the steps earlier but she found a place I missed. I don't like the salt on dogs paws ~ I need to wash them every time or they will lick the salt off the paws.
It's the coldest here since 1929! A minus 20 Grad in Munich area ~ no fun here either at -13. It'll stay for another 10 days or so then warm above zero for a while. If we burn 2 fireplaces in the house, it's tolerable but what a lot of work! Our wood is going fast, never expected this kind of weather.
Now, with earthquakes in Italy yesterday, avalanches covered up a hotel with many people, the helping crew could not get through to get them out. This is no time to enjoy mountains!
I went swimming yesterday for my health, but what should happen ~ I caught a cold! Now I need a chicken soup and plenty of warmth, rest too! Hopefully, no power outage for you this year ~ with hurricane force wind a week ago we too had some outtage but not long. It was really scary for me because we have so many trees bending, howling, and limbs breaking off. Take care and keep warm!
