We were very fortunate. It started to rain here at 6 a.m.
Sat Jan 21, 2017 9:40am

on Sunday morning but the temperature rose to 33* at 9:00 so we had very little ice which melted. The temperature stayed around 34-35* all day and then rose during the night. That night we had 1 1/2" of rain which caused runoff due to frozen ground. That filled our pond.

Wichita had freezing rain Saturday evening. They had numerous accidents including a 20 car pile-up. The ice melted there on Sunday. The western half of Kansas had more ice. Around Dodge City in southwest Kansas was the worst. There are still a few people people out there who don't have power. It's been a long week for the residents and all the power company crews who have worked long hard hours setting poles and repairing lines. Linemen from other power companies in Kansas and Colorado came to help.

We've had milder weather, highs in the 40's and 50's but mornings have been foggy this week. Some "oldtimers" say that fog means snow later. I remember in the 1970's we had fog for a number of days and then we had a lot of snow. That may have been the year the snow was piled up on the sides of the road as high as a school bus. The kids loved playing in the snow. Adults weren't so enthused.

I hope things are looking better at your house.....warmer weather, the dog's leg is healing and that your cold is better. I tell myself that every day is one day closer to spring.
