Actor Jared Martin, who played Dr. Donald Lamarr on the show set in Llanview, has passed away.

Jared Martin, a film and television actor who played Steven "Dusty" Farlow on the hit series "Dallas," died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, of pancreatic cancer at his home in Philadelphia, according to multiple news sources. He was 75. Martin played Farlow, a rodeo cowboy who romanced Sue Ellen Ewing, the wife of Larry Hagman's character, J.R. Ewing. Farlow died in a plane crash, but producers resurrected his character at the insistence of Martin's many fans. "My agent said, 'Get ready, they are going to bring you back,'" Martin once told a "Dallas" fan website. "I said, 'How? I'm dead.' My agent says, 'Oh, this is Hollywood, they will think of something.'" Although Farlow was paralyzed from the waist down after the accident, his condition improved markedly, and he even made a comeback on the rodeo circuit.

Jared Christopher Martin was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Manhattan, New York. He graduated from the Putney School, an independent high school in Vermont, and Columbia University, where he roomed with Brian De Palma, who later became the famous film director and screenwriter. In 1966, De Palma cast Martin in De Palma's first feature film, "Murder la Mod." Martin's other film credits include "Westworld" (1973), "The Second Coming of Suzanne" (1974), "The New Gladiators" (1983), "Karate Warrior" (1988), and "Twin Sitters" (1994). In addition to "Dallas," Martin played various roles on "The Fantastic Journey," "How the West Was Won," "War of the Worlds," "Columbo," and "Shaft."
