Hi Rebecca, I am a women born with citrullinemia. i was on buphenyl until it caused me me ulcers and problems with taking it so more times then not i would not take it and end up in the hospital with high ammonia. i have a feeding tube and take sodium benzote now. i was at the metabolic dr a week or so i ago and he was just talking about the medicine that would replace bupheynl and it is an oil and you would only need like a teaspoon a day but it is in the trail faces and it is really hard at least where i live to get into the trail but he has a older boy on it that says that it is alot more tolirable then the buphenyl and that i could eventualy be put on it. What urea cycle disorder does your child have? i am on soduim benzoate and argenine. allthough i am not in the study so i can not be of much more help. I hope this helps. marta
