hi bonnie, i am marta i have citrullinemia and wasn't dignosed until 3 months of age. i suvered learing disabilties and brain damage in certain areas. what ucd does your son have? if you haven't seen a dietician that specialzes in diets of ucd patients you should probably get in to see one. chicken, eggs, cheese are not completly out for instance i love mozerrela cheese sticks and one stick has 8 grams of protien so i can have one cheese stick a day if i want. when i was into milk i could have half a cup a day. i am ok as long as i don't go over 27 grams a day but last was not a good year i was in the hospital once a month for high ammonia. when was your son dignosed?there is low protien pizza, shaker cheese and cheese slices, past most of these product are made from a company called lo pro and like the pasta and stuff is made from an italian company called aprotien.you can get this trough your child peditrician or dietican? insurance will pay for all the cost of the low protien foods at least mine does. oh yeah they make low protien peanut butter.all your vegies expact spinach, corn and broccolli are safe food. hope this helps. if you have any qiestions let me know. i have lived with a ucd 42 years with it MARTA
