no other phones work. However, even with my cheapie prepay, I never have any problems except when coming around the mountain on entering town from the south...I lose my signal every time on that curve.

Most the kids I know that go off roading carry cells and I don't recall of hearing any problems.

Keep in mind that the Trona area has only had cell service at all in the last two or three years. I like mine because I feel more comfortable when I'm out walking alone so if something happens I can get help. Hahaha...last September I met a new neighbor who was partially disabled...she was very upset because she needed to get ahold of her daughter and her phone was not working. I discovered the problem was that she had AT&T. I let her use my house phone to get ahold of her daughter and then insisted that she borrow my cell until her kids could get her a verizon phone. about 3 days later, I was walking to work alone and I fell and broke my leg. I had to lie there shouting my lungs out until someone heard me and came to my rescue. Hahaha.

Anyway, that is why I worry about Tin. The chances of someone hearing him out there in the desert are not as good as someone hearing me. Maybe he should take me out to his exavation and we could see if my phone works from there. If it doesn't, at least I will quit nagging him. LOL

                Another sudden storm blasted Trona about 10:00pm last night. The power went out again. Whole town went black. The power came back on one minute later. More summer storms coming by next weekend.
