I think it's absurd that they were named "imaginary" numbers in the first place. I would be of a mind to re-name and re-write the textbooks: All the numbers are "Real", but some are "Directly Observable", some are "Inverse" and some are "Invisible" or "Lateral". As a result of this historical slap, people in general think they are literally imaginary! and ignore ideas that might have greatly expanded the general understanding of the cosmos for people in general and advanced the cause of science. Some have developed theories about the possibility of extra dimensions... Meanwhile for nearly 500 years it has been staring us right in the face, a dimension that is real, but unseen. But regrettably, it is ignored by the majority who were taught that it is imaginary.
