It is unfortunate hollywood can not come up with some new original scripts. Even with their remakes and reboots, most of them are a waste of film. Severn Samurai could never be redone, nor could Yojimbo. These are probably the oonly 2 movies I can think of where an 'alternate setting' version of a film has been made quite well. niether of these 2 westerns couls match thier original roots, but they stand out as two great films on thier own. Since it appears M7 remake is a modernized version nothing matters to me about it anymore. I wqs only hoping that of the M7 was being remade as a western, holloywood would at lease put the few surviving members of the original into the movie. I believe Wallach and Vaughn and Rosenda Monteros are the only remaining main cast memebrs still wth us.

There wqas an earlier post that this is in the works. If so, then how about Eli Wallach playing the part of the "Old Man", played in the original by Vladdimir Sokoloff.

This is supposedly a modern day version of the story. Eli would be excellent but the Hollywood moguls are too egotistical to give an homage to the original film. I don't see it happening.

You're right Tom. They probably won't do an homage to the 1960 film because they don't want to acknowledge it. The producers would rather have today's audience think this is an original story. They... more

Walter Hill's LAST MAN STANDING is a retelling of Sergio's FISTFUL OF DOLLARS which is based on Kurosawa's YOJIMBO which was "taken" from Dashiell Hammett's novel RED HARVEST.
