The book says the Italian version is 18 minutes longer than the 162 minute American version and that the Italian version contains the scene you mention. This book hasn't exactly enjoyed a great reputation over the years as people at various times have pointed out inaccuracies. On one hand I wouldn't be surprised if Leone shot more footage as to how Angel Eyes ended up in the Union uniform and at the prison camp; on the other, I doubt it ended up in the Italian version only. Weisser, however, could be referring to the restored scene where Angel Eyes goes to the fort but who knows?
