CYCA 7

I see there is a Dragon entered in CYCA 7 - we took a Dragon up to Scottish a few years ago and won every race in CYCA - so they may be ones to watch. Mind you it was pretty breezy that year so the light winds that are forecast might not favour the Dragon.

Looking forward to a great weekend - no wind + free whiskey = carnage!!!!

Usually by now the forum is alive with Scottish series chat and class predictions, why is it so quite this year? To get the ball rolling, I predict Fever to win class and the overall.

Could this be the year when a CYCA boat takes overall as they have some good teams in there, with good numbers in classes 6 and 7. IRC appears to be shrinking! SB3`S might have a chance too.
    • I will make a prediction that FTSE will not win......in fact possibly not move all weekend!
    • yeah just because Andi Robertson had instructions not to tip winners in YL doesn't mean we can't have a go here. At the moment it's looking like a drifty old weekend. Peruse the entry list here.... more

BTW, who won Kip regatta overall in the end?

Ayyyye..... (waves zimmer frame furiously) It was 20 years ago today (near enough) that Chas went as a pretty much novice racer, with Anne and two friends, on his first Rover Series (as it was then)... more

It wasn't like that in my day! Tomatin ( a foul whisky that was handy for stripping gelcoat through to the engine mounts)150 mile feeder race to Belfast Loch and back via Ailsa Craig, kids today?... more

The classes for the CYCA's look as good as any in a fair few years. Gotta give the CCC an evil side though - pitting an RS Elite with a Benny 47.7 (balls of steel time!) I can see an overall possibly ... more

The SIs indicate the SBs are only doing three days, not the four like everyone else.  If so how could the CCC possibly award the overall to that class?  May as well make the overall based on the... more

...but the SB20's are scheduled to run 9 races so surely not racing on the 1st day is irrelevant?

I think you are correct, the overall winner will not come from the sb20 class. For a class to win the badge, it needs to compete every day. Anyway, they are way too cool to care and will probably be... more

The sportsboats have always had 3 races a day, as did the One Designs that used to share the same course so nothing new there.  So that would be 12 races.  A class that only participates in 3/4 of... more

What class are you racing in Anon?? They should award the overall to that class because it obviously contains the best and most knowledgeable sailors... P-) Who cares what boats gets the overall... more

Setting aside all the amusing sniping about SB20s. The sportboat (& small boat (=Sonata)) entry has imploded this year. Refugees washing up in CYCA 6/7 which probably won't do them any favours. Why... more

BS. Try comparing it to Cork, Cowes, or Dun Laoghaire or even the Irish IRCs.
