The Day I accepted the Gracie Challenge- Pt1
Mon Dec 17, 2018 1:58am

I had left my homeland of Japan many years before, and had been living in Papua New Guinea where I taught the natives how to defend themselves against the Indonesian soldiers who wanted to take their country. I was happy with my life there and had no plans of ever returning to the Western world. That was until I was flicking through an edition of Black Belt magazine and I came across an ad.

This ad was by a man calling himself Royce Gracie and he was challenging all martial artists to what could only be a death match. This irritated me and I felt insulted that such a person would dishonor the ancient ways like this. With the help of my loyal students we prepared an old World War Two Zero for long distance flight, and I made my way to California, USA.
