I know a guy that was employed as a plant manager until the company downsized and he got laid off. He took some classes in heating and air conditioning (something totally unrelated to anything he had ever done) while mowing yards and clearing brush filled lots for extra money. Now he employs 10 people and has 6 service trucks. He didn't sit around and wait for things to happen he went out and made it happen!
