governments are well designed to deal with violence as that justifies their use of violence. Another fact is the internet for organizing demonstrations and getting the word out. You can see why governments want to control it. It is dangerous to all governments. Anything that helps communications and is not controlled by government is dangerous to government.

Do you remember the old way of copying papers, you typed it on on a black copy, put them on an inked roller and then printed out these smeared looking copies. I can't think of what it is called. Anyway in the Soviet Union those were strictly government controlled and to use one inappropriately could get you shot. Never the less a lot of forbidden books got published that way and smeared copies made it to the black market.

Imagine how dangerous the first printing presses were when they made it cheaper to cop things then the old monk copying it by hand. It started the split in Christianity when Bibles began to be printed and people other than priests could interpret it for themselves.

The Internet could prove just as dangerous to any kind of government as it makes secrecy that much more difficult and no government can survive if it can't keep much of what it is doing secret.
