SeekerRe: Ah but parents have the right to determineThu Oct 27, 2011 9:23pm126.96.36.199Well, yes, parents have the right to raise their children as they see fit. It is a legal and moral right.
I have never been threatened by anyone from either camp (believers and non-believers). My personal exposure to the religious has always been pleasant. It is on these message boards that I have been very annoyed from time to time, even insulted. Perhaps such aggressive and insulting behavior is a function of anonymity. And it really is difficult to no for sure who you are talking to and what their motives are for behaving the way they do.
Insults and annoyances, however, are certainly no where near the same level as physical threats. Physical threats, regardless of who issues them, should never be condoned or tolerated.
My own personal view is that a parent who exposes their child(ren) to a broad range of ideas is enriching that child. Knowledge is one of the keys to understanding. My personal sense is that three years old is a little young, but hey, it's not my decision to make with another's child.

- Re: Just Cute? Not perhaps Profound? Seeker, Thu Oct 27 9:31amWhy do you consider the child's question profound? The question reminds me of a question that I was asked by a kid: Why does Santa Claus have to use the chimney? Can't he use the front door? I smile... more
