Genetically changed plants would not have to be dnagerous except that we want them to do more than just grow food. Many of these plants produce their own insect poisons, or prevent the plant frmbeing hurt by Round UP. None of these extra chemicals are useful to the human body, nor do we have ny studies of their long term effect on human health.
Even before Genetic engineering crops were being developed that would last longer in storage, that could be mechanically picked, but often at the loss of actual flavor , texture or even nutrition. That alone was enough to be concerned about the lossof nutrition, and flavor. Nutrition plays an import part in our present day health issues and flavor and texture , or the lack of it is one of the reasons few of us enjoy eating as was once more common in our society. So we are putting up with foods that have little taste and texture and less neutrition, but that will store better and that will be less damaged by machine pickingand now that produce theri own pesticides or resist the posions we pour out on the grownd to kill weeds.
Meanwhile we replace foods with soy texture, checmicals and colorings that have no food value at all.
- "Genetically Modified" to some has the same impact as... SES, Sat May 5 11:04am"...Nuclear". Genetically Modified? OH NO!!!!!! Nuclear? OH NO!!!!!! To some people, "Genetically Modified" and "Nuclear" conjure up images of fish with three eyes, or cows with two heads, or people... more
