It is a ludicrous and unethical idea to suggest that no one, because of their past misdeeds, can therefore speak out against or try to stop current day atrocities such as the mass murders by the Syrian government against its own citizens.
If anything, having learned the lessons of man's inhumanity toward man, everyone should be more aware, sympathetic, and willing to take protective action.
