I hope that moderates do and will stand up, because that is the only way to stop the craziness.
As for Crazies in all beliefs and non beliefs, certainly. The problem is the human factor. Changing religious beliefs often do not change how one handles or treats religion.
My first religion was Buddhism and we often would joke about Born Again Buddhists, and Catholic Buddhists, because the new Buddhists treated their new religion much the way that they treated their former religion. Regardless of belief or non belief people will continue to have all the aspects of being human.
