Many years ago, there was a knock at my door...

It was the Jehova's Witnesses. A young teenage Sprout answered the door. These particular Jehova's Witnesses had a question, that was doubtless intended as an icebreaker and conversation starter.

They asked, "Do you think that morals will ever make a comeback in our society?"

They were somewhat baffled when the teenager who answered the door responded calmly with, "Well I certainly could see a time in the future when ethical behavior becomes a social survival trait and ethical behavior makes something of a comeback, but I think organized religion will continue to decline."

They just didn't know how to deal with that, thanked me, and went on their way.

The mainstream is falling into irrelevancy. As with politics, Americans are being drawn to the far-right extreme. And as with politics, that extreme may be a minority, but it's a NOISY minority.
