I suggested in an earlier post an article: Beating Heart Corpses. The definition of "dead" has morphed. You asked the right questions. But science has now shown that dead depends on split-hair definitions. "Corpses are being kept alive and well attended to right up to the moment the organs are "harvested" for the immediate transfer over to a waiting recipient (Dick 9-11 Cheney). And sometimes these corpses flinch when the scalpel begins to slice. I think a body should be held from buried until it begins to stink. Then there is no need to worry about waking up in a coffin. Granted, fomaldyhid is a great tool for killing off any that escaped death at the hospital.
