It would have to be during childhood, during innocence.

I loved baseball when I was a kid. My best friend and I spent hour after hour after hour playing catch in his front yard, pretending we were Outfielders for the New York Mets.

I wanted NOTHING more than to play Little League baseball.

I was SO nervous when I went to tryouts. All those kids. Never having played organized ball before. I forget how old I was. Nine years old maybe?

A few days later the phone in the kitchen rang. Mom answered it. She yelled into the Living Room.

"SES? It's for you!"

I NEVER got phone calls at that age. I took the phone.

"Yes, Sir?"

"This is Mister Olivetto. I Coach the 'Rose Stores' team. I'd really like to have you on my team this year. OK?"

"Yes, Sir."

I hung up the phone, ran into the Living Room, and I musta jumped 10 feet onto the couch.

When you're that young, and that innocent, and you get something that you've wanted more than anything in the world...

...I've always remembered it as the most innocently exhilarating moment of my life.
