There were so many instances of "Friendly Fire" in that campaign.

US planes dropping bombs on US troops.

US patrols engaging each other.

US ships firing at US ships in the dark.

US ships shooting down US planes.

None of that was due to arrogance, though. Just a lack of experience and training, fighting in a dense jungle, bad maps, no night-fire training.

I don't think there was any "arrogance" in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
