A religion

is what its adherents make it. They are the face of their religion.

If truth be told, I don't know of any religion, or non for that matter, that can claim they don't live in a glass house. I don't know of any nation, race, religion (or non-religion), gender, age, etc., that can say they are and have always been innocents. I don't know of any people that can say at one time or another their kind has never done things that they should be ashamed of.

We can not do a damn thing about our past. We can argue over what can not change and polarize from each other further and further, or we can take control of what we do from this point on.

The reality is that religion is an expression of belief - how we humans weld it says not so much about the religion itself but about us as a species.

*We* will either be a peaceful species or a violent one - *we* will either be intolerant of violence and abuse, wherever it rears its ugly head, regardless of who practices it, or we won't. We will either accept it and makes excuses for those who commit it, or we will stand against it with everything we have to offer.

Religion is either a means to be inspired to do right, or an excuse to do wrong. But whatever it is, in the end, it is what we make it and we are all responsible for our own behaviors. There are no excuses. Hiding behind Yahweh, or Allah, or who or whatever, just isn't going to get us out of the mess we have created for ourselves.

In the end, it is up to us. It's that simple. No more excuses.
