Whatever happened to the "Melting Pot"?

There was a time when the idea was that the United States was a "Melting Pot" -- people from all over the world came to the United States, and "melted" into a somewhat homogeneous culture. A governmental system, legal system, societal system, religious freedom, etc.

Now, for some unknown asinine reason, we've morphed into an idea that emphasizes DIVERSITY!

What the friggin' funk!

"Our Strength is Our Diversity" is a common slogan on college campi and in businesses.
