...plenty of times.

Giving political/military power to any religion is going to produce the kinds of atrocities that you seem to think are the fabric of Islam. That isn't Islam.

Is this buddhism? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_and_violence

Is this Christianity? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism#Contemporary or this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-abortion_violence#Army_of_God

Is this Judaism? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_religious_terrorism#Since_1948

None of these faiths is perfect. None of their scriptures is inerrant. None of their creeds/dogmas/doctrines/theologies are flawless. What matters are the choices that each individual makes. Condemning an entire faith for the actions of a radical minority is evil and dishonest.

I can look at the good and the bad and understand both. I can see how one person could devote their life to a faith and find grace and personal fulfillment while another can use the same faith as a justification for their hatred of others. The fault is not with the faith.

You are beloved of those who seek to use Islam as a means to control and recruit, because you echo their own claims. You tell everyone that all Muslims properly belong to that vision, and you name all Muslims as the enemy.

You are helping them recruit. You are part of creating an environment that pushes more and more people into their camp. We should be working together to isolate those who would use violence or any means of compulsion, regardless of the faith they claim. We need to enable majority moderate Islam and disconnect it from those who have welded Islam to political structures and military structures.

Isolate hate. Empower unity.
