But, first, show us this "damage" to the environment.

We have gone to great lengths to reduce the environmental impact of the internal combustion engine.

Our air is cleaner than ever before in the last 100 years. Same for water.

Gas tax should be used only to maintain and improve the roads, bridges and highways.

It is the fairest tax of all ... everyone is treated by the same measure ... you pay the same price rate for what you use ... cents per gallon. Use more gallons, pay more cents.

Now, we need to figure out how to make the electric car owners pay their fair share for use of the roads. What would be fair? Assess an annual mileage tax based on what the average gas vehicle pays per mile in gas tax. If gas tax is $0.50 per gallon, and the average gas vehicle gets 25 MPG, the tax rate would be $0.02 per mile. So, if you drive your $125+K Tesla 20,000 miles per year, your road tax would be $400. Fair enough? Not a bad price for being a limousine liberal.

because of all the damage to the environment caused by making and using gas. I mostly agree with the rest of those ideas.
