That part of the story was added decades later, in a tortured attempt to have jesus fulfill prophecy.

If he actually existed at all, he was most likely born in Nazareth.

Anyone who looks at the gospel story with a rational, logical, intelligent mind can see all of the holes in the story. There was no "Roman Census" that required people to return to their ancestral homes, such a Census wouldn't have made any sense anyway, the gospels place the story in the reign of Herod, but he had died 10 years earlier, jesus wasn't born on December 25th, that date was chosen much later, for political reasons, etc.
