To test them rigorously to make sure that they produce no more than 1 death per hundred million vehicle miles, the test run would need to be at least a BILLION vehicle miles for statistical significance. That would require 10,000 cars each driven 100,000 miles. This cannot be done in any reasonable length of time.

Don't hold your breath on this.
