Those who overstay visas aren't even misdemeanor offenders. Their infractions have civil penalties, not criminal penalties.

The point I was making was that illegal immigrants are not more likely to commit crimes once they are here. They are actually less likely to commit crimes. So it is a flawed argument to say that one reason we need to get rid of illegal immigrants is because they are a safety issue. That simply isn't true.
