Assuming the tactical situation permits, I would unhesitatingly use lethal force on an armed robber. I do not see that I have any ethical compulsion to assume that they robber will not use their weapon, regardless of my actions. That is to say, I will not assume that if I comply with their demands, they will refrain from harming me. There are too many instances of that not being the case. I believe I have the ethical right (and I know that in my state I have the legal right) to respond to a credible threat of deadly force with countervailing force.

And I will do so (I carry...).
