at this point in his life

he's clinging to a hope of something that may never be. We often do that. Fall in love with someone thinking we'll get married and it never happens. The only difference in my eyes is how one lives. If you take the outlook that heck you'll have a great afterlife so why worry about here and now that's dangerous and bad in society as a whole.

If heaven exists cool - I'll take endless whisky and chicken wings please (with a side of multi-flavor ice cream). If reincarnation exists I want to be a cat - great life (eat, sleep, snuggle, lay in sun puddle, play, taunt humans, repeat). If there is nothing, then I pray my life has made a difference for those in my circle and perhaps beyond.

It really is that simple if people let it be, but we end up arguing over how many angels dance on the head of a turtle (if you get the reference, bonus points)
