Hi Marianne.

I appreciate a lot your reply.

"Queen Meryetamun's burial was "restored" in Year 19 of Pinudjem I, 3rd month of Peret, day 19. The linen for the re-wrapping contained the name of HP Masaharta."

Actually, Year 19 is anonymous. HP Masaharta is titled 'Son of King Pinudjem', something he and Menkheperre are very fond of. This linen, like all others dated between Years 6-15 with Pinudjem son of Piankh as HP, and those from Years 16-19 with HP Masaharta in them, don't name the ruler to whom the year-date belongs, and thus have been copiously attributed to many different kings. HP Pinudjem himself as King-Priest, Smendes and Psusennes I are the most favored of candidates. The truth is that the king to whom these year-dates belong is never mentioned...

Best wishes,
Jaime

An anonymous year date with the mention of a king within the very same date formula is technically not anonymous. The Egyptians were not ignorant. Shouldn't the default assumption be that the year... more
