Re: Ramses XII = Ramses VIII?

Dear Jaime,

Thanks for your intelligent response. I am starting to think that Ramesses XII did exist too. As for Ramesses VIII, I do accept that he was a son of Ramesses III since it would explain his short reign of 1 or 2 years n the throne. He would have assumed power only 25 years after his father's death and would have been quite elderly in this case. He could not be expected to rule very long.

The identification of Usermare Akhenamun Ramesses VIII with Ramesses Sethirkhepshef was also made by the late Jac Jannsen (1922-2011) in GM 129 (1978) pp.45-46, not only by Kenneth Kitchen. Its not possible for him to reign after Ramesses IX.

Regards, Fabian
