I was rereading some of these posts today to get a sense of the entire discussion and its most salient points and....

"You wrote: in article 17644. For example "In the 55th year of the reign of Pharoah king of Egypt, reigned Moses in Kush. Moses was 27yrs old when he began to reign over Kush, and forty years did he reign". These are your words, Marianne."

I wrote:
"Those are not my words! Those are the words of the Book of Jasher."

And that's right. While I don't think [unlike Robert] that this Book of Jasher has more credibility than the Hebrew Bible, it certainly must contain midrashim--the legends and beliefs of the Jews. Is it possible that these have some credibility? Yes, of course. That quote, I think, was not saying that Moses began to "reign over Kush" in the 55th year of the king of Egypt. It states plainly enough that Moses *was* reigning in Kush in that year--which must, by default, be the last year of Thutmose III [although he is assigned more like 54 years by Egyptology--it's near enough and no other pharaoh of Dynasty 18 ruled as long]. In other words, in that last year Moses was in Kush according to the Book of Jasher and not among the Midianites.

But, for some unaccountable reason, I also wrote:

"I don't know what you're talking about. Yes, Thutmose III can have died in 1450 BCE, [very unlikely, however]"

What I meant was "very likely, actually" because, according to my favored chronology, that is the year he *does* die. According to the math of Pseudo-Dionysius it was not until the Year 490 [1450 BCE] and the death of the pharaoh that Moses returned to Egypt--but he didn't say exactly how long it took him to come back.
