"After Joshua led the Israelites into Canaan, he prayed: “Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.

And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.” (Joshua 10:12,13) If these words describe an actual observation, the researchers postulate that “a major astronomical event was being reported.”

“In other words, the text is referring to a solar eclipse, when the sun stops shining,” they said. “As a solar eclipse can only occur when the moon is directly between the earth and the sun, the moon itself is not visible, and so it is not reflecting sunlight to the earth – like the sun, it has ‘stopped shining’ as well.”"

    • So what happened to the idea that this "Sun standing still" was not a time marker, that these events occurred at the time of the solstice? A solar eclipse would place the Moon and the Sun in the same ... more

In my opinion,---You were correct to place the reign of Merneptah in 1207BCE. Doing so would be, I think, in the year of the death of Amuwanda III, 2685AM, 1207BCE, and ac. Suppilluma III, and 31st... more

No campaign of Merenptah in the bible. Thats why no synchronism.
