Sorry to disappoint you, Marrianne, but I have not provided ad hominem fodder/information on purpose. You see, I made that decision after a certain "Tory Thorpe" posted derogatory and insulting barbs about Christianity. I say, if one wants to be a Jew, then be one. But allow others who have gone beyond Judaism their choice as well.

Now, what I see from your replies is that you seem to lose your way in the difference between what an ancient scholar/chronographer believed to be so and what was actually so in reality. The fact is, Marrianne, the "Early Church Fathers" had lost a lot of information by the turn of the first millennium BCE (not to mention by the time of the 9th century chronologer George Syncellus whom you seem to accept as an authority on ancient history). Africanus, Eucebius, Plutarch and the like simply did not know a lot of early history. Much had been lost in the thousand years of wars, exiles and persecutions before Eusebius attempted to recollect it all in an official history. So to rattle on about their speculations and inconsistencies and what they thought is nice if what you're after is what they thought. But if the true history is what you're after then these guys are only a side note to rigorous research. That is not BS, that is fact.

I suggest, in a common-sensical sort of way, that you go to primary sources. They tend to be either eyewitness reports or the reports of eyewitness accounts. They occur close in time to the events they describe. And they have some provenance as they have come down to us. You appear to do that with Egyptian documentation, so why not with other documentation?

Lastly, I am not sure why Moses is so important to chronology. In my estimation the Israelites made their exodus out of Egypt all right, but it was the Lower Egypt ruled by the Hyksos and not the Middle Egypt ruled by the 17th and 18th dynasties. Why Hyksos you ask (and I know you did)? Because a primary source says so, if you know how to do the reading, that is.

So don't get flustered because I haven't given you ad hominem material to use to deflect my observations about your posts. Stick to the substance and you'll do fine.

And P.S. This Forum has a ton of useful information going back at least ten years! There are gems in the muck to be sure, but the dig is well worth the reward.

Why is my name being mentioned? Tory Thorpe only returns insults he never initiates them. My record is clear. Regards, Tory Thorpe
