"Lastly, I am not sure why Moses is so important to chronology. In my estimation the Israelites made their exodus out of Egypt all right, but it was the Lower Egypt ruled by the Hyksos and not the Middle Egypt ruled by the 17th and 18th dynasties. Why Hyksos you ask (and I know you did)? Because a primary source says so, if you know how to do the reading, that is."

Of course, the "primary source" is a deep, dark secret! So, if you believe the Israelites made their exodus from Egypt during the time of Hyksos hegemony--that's not relevant to chronology?? Was Moses there--or vacationing in the Bahamas at the time? It so happens I know of a primary source that claims the Hyksos were driven out of Lower Egypt in the time of Dynasty 18. And I don't mean by Ahmose because, strictly speaking, he was a member of Dynasty 17. The only ones who think the Israelites left from Middle Egypt are those who believe that occurred in the time of Akhenaten. I don't believe in a single exodus or expulsion of what was perceived as a foreign element from Egypt. There were surely several even in the pharaonic period. [The Jews--after they had actually received a Torah--were forced to leave Egypt several times after that, too, including in the 20th Century CE.] But only one of them involved Moses. Yet his involvement cannot possibly have happened at any time when the Hyksos *ruled*. There isn't a single primary source that says the Hyksos drove out anybody. And you can well believe I would "know how to do the reading" if there were such a text. All the primary source texts known to Egyptology have the Hyksos being the *driven*.
