Hi all

Well-ll-ll, so Fred is investigating a reversal of Shabaka/Shabataka and seems to be quite enthusiastic about it (he has announced it here and on the NC list). And using many of the arguments I have used over the past year, Back then he rejected them, but now... It came as a surprise to me for up until then I had been sitting on the fence and playing devil's advocate (It was Jean-Fred who originally gave me the idea that the pair maybe reversed). (I liked the idea because it could push back the reign of Piankhy and so create an overlap between Piankhy's campaign and Tiglathpileser's Palestinian campaigns of 734-732 wherein there is no hint of Egyptian opposition, indeed a mere sheikh is set to guard the border). And just as I was thinking that this possible synchronism should be abandoned and I should revert back to the conventional chronology, he comes out with his reversal and adds several new ideas to support it.

So let's continue the idea that they are reversed (but still dropping the possible synchronism of Piankhy and Tiglathpileser's campaigns - currently I think things will work better if I drop it). Anyway back on 3 Sep 2002 I gave a possible genealogy and with Ian's recent post on the subject I again submit it but with the addition of Abar, Khensu and Qalhata.

Hi all 1. AFAIK the only objection to my genealogy is that Shepenupet 2 is not the sister of Shabaka. I understand there is an inscription stating this, but does it use a generic term to describe the ... more

Hi Joe, I am afraid the objections to your genealogy are far more serious than that. Not only is Shepenupet II not a sister of Shabaqo (she is the sister of Taharqo because she is the daughter of his ... more
