Have never seen one like this before!

One week old - looks chocolate:

Two weeks old:

Three weeks old - coat starting to have "red" hue:

Four weeks old - starting to lighten around the eyes:

Five Weeks old - ears turning "reddish" and "reddish" areas on body - definite fading around eyes and muzzel:

Six Weeks old - no longer looks chocolate at all - reddish look - and roots are very light! :

    I read of cafe', parchment or lavender being 'rare' colors. What is rare is solid CHOCOLATE! Because most of our AL lines have creams, apricots, reds, whites, silvers all mixed in, the dilution genes ... more

      was the 'common' chocolate and both the dark and parchment were rare; now only the dark is.

I call it white chocolate others call it lavender or parchment but because those colors don't sound chocolate to clients I use the white chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate and dark chocolate names.

I have had a girl in each of my last two litters start this sable transformation and it seemed to happen around 3-6 weeks. Both were chocolates at birth and then hair started growing much lighter.... more
