Looks pretty good. What did you do to refinish the barrel and the receiver?

I am currently restoring a 24 s-e. I completed the stock and forearm, sanded stained and urithaned them. Looks mint. I also replaced the trigger spring and hammer.

The last thing I want to do it re finish the barrel and receiver and haven't decided on how I want to do it. I just tried the brownell's aluma hyde2 on a cheap .22 I have and it came out great. The .22 has an aluminum receiver so I wasn't able to blue it. I'm not sure what the savage 24 s-e is even made of.

I used the minimum amount of pressure required to remove the paint and I did not spent too much time in the area of the serial numbers.

I used Gunkote from Midway Gloss black. I glass beaded the receiver and polished the barrel. If you are going to try it, buy the K-Phos primer, it makes a difference. I have done 7 firearms with this ... more
